INTERNATIONAL FOCUS

PAIS is a true international school.
Paraguayan students comprise about 50% of our student body, while the rest come from diverse parts of the world. We currently have students from the United States, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Germany, the Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan (ROC), Japan, the People’s Republic of China, Israel, Lebanon, Colombia, Venezuela, Uruguay, Guatemala, and Jamaica. In the past, we have also welcomed students from Norway, Sweden, Panama, Peru, Italy, and Spain.

Our students
The opportunity to interact daily with students from other countries and to learn firsthand about diverse cultures and traditions is an invaluable part of the educational experience at PAIS. The school’s rich cultural diversity creates a welcoming environment, especially for new students who have recently moved to Paraguay and may feel apprehensive about joining a new school. Through meaningful exchanges with peers from different backgrounds, students enhance their communication skills and develop a broader, more global perspective. They also learn tolerance and respect for differences in culture, religion, and beliefs. In short, students grow both intellectually and emotionally through friendships and collaboration with peers from around the world—and PAIS actively fosters this vital dimension of their educational journey.

One of the ways PAIS fosters cultural awareness is by recognizing the national day of each country represented in our school community. On each country’s national day, we hold a flag-raising ceremony and play its national anthem. This is often followed by classroom instruction and discussion about the country, its culture, and current events. Each year, we also celebrate International Day, during which students perform a theatrical show and parents share traditional foods from their home countries, often speaking about their culture and customs. This is one of the most popular events at our school and is always well-attended by students and their families.
