Our history

The Pan American International School was founded in 1993, as a private, co-educational, non-sectarian day school. It was registered under the laws of the Paraguayan government as a non-profit foundation.
The Pan American International School offers instruction to students in grades Kinder 3 through grade 12. It provides a curriculum in the English language based upon an international model, with specific courses in Spanish as applicable to those students who may wish to meet the Paraguayan Ministry of Education and Culture requirement for entrance into Paraguayan Universities. Students are given the opportunity to learn the democratic process and to develop a set of values that will help them make responsible choices.

Our philosophy

The Pan American International School believes in and places emphasis on a strong foundation for academic achievement; the encouragement of critical thinking skills; and the development of responsibility and self- direction. We believe that the Pan American School has a unique opportunity to foster the development of global citizens of the future. Therefore, we endeavor to enhance a broader educational experience which focuses on creating a balance between sciences and humanities within the framework of each student’s national citizenship and in turn, international citizenship. We believe that to develop informed, thinking citizens capable of participating fully in their respective national settings and in world affairs, we must:

  • Establish an environment, which promotes the highest possible standards of education
  • Promote the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for life-long development of the total person
  • Prepare students to adapt and adjust to the complexities and challenges of an increasingly interdependent and changing world
  • Foster awareness of rights, duties, and responsibilities of citizenship, as well as  respect for other cultures and nationalities

Our mission

PAIS intends to provide an excellent educational opportunity, based on a U.S. curriculum, primarily for a Paraguayan and International community regardless of race, nationality or creed.  PAIS shall offer a program of studies to prepare students for success in a university system.  Recognizing the transient nature of some of the student body, the curriculum should enable students to transfer between PAIS and other U.S. international and Paraguayan schools, insofar as equivalency requirements do not conflict with U.S. curriculum standards.  PAIS shall endeavor to provide a program that maintains, and benefits from, the international diversity of the community.  PAIS is committed to the development of the whole individual and is dedicated to fostering students’ intellectual, social, emotional and physical growth to prepare them to become good citizens and productive members of society.
